2015…so far…

The most common question I’m hearing nowadays among my runner friends is some version of what’s up for 2015?  Whether they’re asking about goal races, running trips, fun races/events, everyone is starting to think about their calendar.  It’s always hard to choose what to do, what to miss, and what’s most important.

I’m still not 100%, but I do feel like I’m on the way to being healed and running strongly.  So, in that positive thought process, I have registered for a few races.  Not too many, but here’s what’s on the calendar, thus far.  Bold means registered, italic means I’m working it, and regular font means I’m thinking about it.

January

11 – Lake Sammish Half Marathon with Nikki - it was a $15 registration fee, and an excuse to head across the line and see my peeps, do a little shopping, sounded good to me.

February

15 – Vancouver First Half – I may run it, or I may sell my entry.  One of the most popular races in Vancouver, I reg’d because it always sells out and it is probably my favourite half marathon around.

21 – RunGo Dash for Dogs – a really cool charity event that my RunGo friends are putting on, and I’ll be the RD for.  More details to be released soon, but there’s going to be guide dogs and puppies at the event, along with beer afterwards, so it’s a winner.

22 – Lord Hill – 20M Trail Race - SOMEBODY *cough* Melissa *cough* signed up for the 50K even though we decided on the 20M, so we’ll see what we actually run that day, but this was one of our favourite races from last year, super muddy, fun trails, we actually enjoyed the multi loops, and so we decided to go back.  A quick drive down in the am, it’s guaranteed to be a fun day.

March

Nada thus far.

22 – Cap Crusher – I’ve ran it the last 2 years so maybe will run it again in 2015, it’s a great little run, albeit a little early in the season.

April

25 – Spring Rush – a 27K race in Kelowna, I randomly added this one to the calendar this year.  I really like the 24-30K races and there’s so few of them around that it was a easy choice.

May

9 – 5 Peaks Golden Ears – first race of 2015 for Golden Ears.  Love!

15-18 – Grand Canyon for May Long Weekend?  It’s in the plans…

30 – Survival of the Fittest – Maybe baby.

June

6 – 5 Peaks – second race of the 5 Peaks Vancouver series.

July

4-5 – Jasper Skyline Trail Adventure

11 – KneeKnacker - Nobody getting married this day in 2015, so I’m going put my name in the lottery, see what happens.  And a little birdie told me that Jay is also putting his name in the hat.  Say whatttttt?

18  – 5 Peaks Cypress – 3rd race of the 5 Peaks Vancouver series.

August

14-16 Fat Dog!  Jay, Shea, Melissa, and I are going to run the Fat Dog 120M race as a relay team.  We are potentially looking for 1-2 more people to join us. Excited to go back to Manning Park after missing out on this race last year due to conflicts with SQ50.

23 – Squamish 50K – reg’d for the 3rd year in a row, hoping to be able to run next summer, and challenge my 2013 time.

29 – 5 Peaks Whistler – 4th and my favourite of the 5 Peaks Vancouver series.

September

12 – 5 Peaks Seymour - 5th and final of the 5 Peaks Vancouver series.

18-20  Golden Ultra – 3 Day Stage Race in Golden, BC.  Since I missed Kan3 in 2013 I’ve been so sad to not be able to attempt a stage race, which has been a goal in my head for what seems like forever.  Kan3 isn’t happening this year, so Golden was a no-brainer.

26 – 5 Peaks Buntzen – bonus race of the 5 Peaks Vancouver series.

October

3 – Baker Lake 50K – hope to be back in 2015, as it is one of my all time favourite races, but we’ll see how the chips fall over the summer.

November

21 – Mustache Miler – just realized that I never blogged about this fun run that we did the day after returning from Mexico this November.  We had a blast, and they had a really cheap super early bird registration, so we’re signed up.

So, if you’re keeping track, that’s 8 races reg’d, 7 races I’m working, a couple of maybe races, and a couple of adventure roadtrips.  Sounds good to me.

What’s up for you in 2015?  Have you started registering for races, or are you more last minute?

I like to save money with earlybird pricing, but I hate to see money wasted like with this year and my injuries.

xoxo

PS – as per request, here is the link for the 2014 December #beaststreak google doc - make sure you’re filling in your deets!  Day 16 for me today was a 5K trail run followed by yoga!
